Introduction to Modern Mindfulness

An 8 week course that introduces participants to the foundational practices of Unified Mindfulness (UM) as created by Shinzen Young. In this course, there is a strong focus on learning specific strategies for integrating mindfulness skills into daily life. This makes it perfect for both the dedicated, experienced practitioner and beginners alike.  

 

A hallmark of the UM  is its broad menu of sensory based approaches that merge science and world contemplative practice. It is a comprehensive framework that is so rigorously precise, institutions like Harvard Medical School, Carnegie Mellon University, and the University of Vermont us it as the basis for their research on meditation and its application in the neurosciences, psychology, and clinical sciences. This provides a specific and precise method which also allows for creativity and flexibility depending on individual needs and life situations.  It is a non religious approach so anyone of any faith can do it. 

 

Each class includes learning a specific approach to both formal and daily life practice, as well as creative, interactive group activities that bring the practice of mindfulness  to life in unique and playful ways.
